Reimagining downtown dc
Operating as the Peace Corps HQ for 25 years, The Vanguard was the first high-rise office building in the neighborhood. To continue its namesake, the space has been transformed from office to residential mixed-use as Elle, further evolving this dynamic section of the District into a vibrant, holistic community hub.
A Nod to Location
Elle’s brand, concepted by Streetsense, plays off the property’s location on 1111 20th Street— the name pays homage to its L Street location while the double L resembles an 11. The creative concept nods to its location in Golden Triangle with gold accents, natural greenery, and sustainable details throughout the physical property, bridging the onsite experience with the brand.
About Willco
Willco is a leading developer, owner, investor, and manager of first-class commercial real estate based in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. In 1965 the team constructed the Vanguard building, one of DC’s most significant development projects and high-rise office buildings in the neighborhood. Today they are converting this large-scale office space into an elevated residential experience. This will mark the first conversion and one of the first elevated experiences in the Golden Triangle.
